The Yule Cat (Icelandic: Jólakötturinn) is a huge cat from Icelandic folklore. Legend says it stalks the snowy countryside during the Christmas season and eats anyone who do not wear the gift of new clothing before Christmas Eve. (A kinder, gentler version of the story says the Yule Cat only eats the Christmas dinner of those who don’t wear new clothes.)
